Who We Are

MEET THE TEAM

Our team is comprised of therapist who are movement builders and leaders in the community. All members of our executive leadership team are practicing clinicians listed in our directory and actively serving the communities we support.

We actively and intentionally promote the normalization of healing and access to mental health care equity in the Black community. With a wide array of clinical experience and specialties, we are dedicated to expanding the reach of Black mental health voices and supporting Black therapists and clients to be heard.

As a team, we recognize that Black Therapists Matter is MORE than a directory, it is a movement dedicated to healing, representation, and community empowerment. We make it clear that our movement is rooted in the Sankofa principle of honoring the past while building a healthier and more empowered future. Black Therapists Matter acknowledges historical and generational barriers to mental health care while actively creating new pathways for healing, professional growth, and community connection.

While we represent less than 10% of the field, Black therapist are here and ready to serve. We are BECAUSE of our ancestors!

"My Big Black Therapist"

Cultural competence isn’t a buzzword for me, it’s lived experience. My work is about making sure our community is seen, understood, and trusted in a system that wasn’t built with us in mind. "My Big Black Therapist" stands ten toes down in living in your authenticity and showing the world, that you can be YOU. Let's take off the veil and let the world know about the great work you are doing.  I am here to make sure the BTM voice is heard and seen across the globe!

"The Revolutionary Trauma Healer"

Through my work as a licensed mental health counselor and group practice owner, I have been committed to helping people find their true voice. Survival was your first story but healing is your second, so keep going. As we heal, our community can break cycles of generational trauma and inherit generational healing. Engaging my community on wellness and providing psycho education are essential tools to that cycle breaking.
